Saffron Hot Chocolate For Period Pain

There is no better way to honour your cycle and also ease period cramps than making this nourishing saffron hot chocolate. Made with warming spices, cacao, dark chocolate and raw honey - this recipe is designed to help you feel your best around this time of the month!

Ingredients 


1 cup of organic milk (or your preferred milk alternative)
30gram dark chocolate (70% cocoa), finely chopped
1 tablespoon cacao powder
1 teaspoon raw honey sugar (adjust to taste)
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground ginger (or a small slice of fresh ginger)
A pinch of saffron threads (about 6–8 threads)
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
1/2 tsp vanilla paste

Method


In a medium saucepan, warm the milk over medium heat. Add the saffron threads and stir gently. Put the saucepan lid on and let the saffron steep for 2–3 minutes. 

Stir in the ground ginger (or fresh ginger slice), cocoa powder, and honey. Whisk until the cocoa powder is fully dissolved.

Reduce the heat to low and add the chopped dark chocolate. Stir continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.

Add the cinnamon (if using) and vanilla extract. Stir well and let it simmer for another minute to meld the flavours. Pour into a mug, sit back and enjoy.
